I would believe that they would have the feed bags on before the simulated spawn. Also, water temps have been dropping so they will be moving from the deeps to shallower water. They may not be concentrated in any one area but if you troll around one may find numbers more than size as this post was originally about (sorry for going off topic).
I have been trying to educate myself as much as possible about the species and traits during different times of the year at bear Lake. With that being said... I have learned that there is much to learn! LOL
As to a benefit for me, well, I may have a better chance in actually catching something other than sucker from the shore as they move into shallower waters instead of the 60-90 foot areas that I can't reach.
As for any hindrance, I see none at all! Fishing is more than catching for me, just wish I could do it more often, and from a boat. My son and I have fished all summer from the breakwater at the marina and from the shore at Cisco beach and enjoyed many fishless days.[
