Well me and the ole man are headed out here shortly, if you see a gray hair and a 30ish guy with a cheesie running around throwing flys say hello. Camera is loaded so should have a few pics today too. Looks like a gorgeous day to be fishing!

my goodness, i was out there overnight with my wife and kid, we fished this morning and she caught a lot on worms, but i couldn't for the world seem to hook up with a fly. i was only trying different variations of the renegade and it was just around the corner from lone pine, where is it that you fished?

Were you throwing a fly right at the bridge next to Kaufman right when the rain started? Camo waders I think. On the way to the BLM campground I saw a guy walking on the road with a stringer full of fish...felt bad for him because he was wearing waders to stay dry but walking back to his car (presumably at Kaufman) in the rain. Had about a quarter mile to go.
If I'd have checked which threads were active I would have put my report in this one!

Nope that wasn't I. I rarely keep fish ( nothing against it, just don't eat them too often). We fished a few miles above kaufman today actually.

well i don't know where kaufman is. we fished just around the bend north of lone pine and then went up to where the river crossed to the east side of the road. thats as far as i got to go. my wife wanted to ride her dirtbike more than fish so i couldn't find too many places.

That was me hiking back to Kaufman. No need to feel badly - I'll walk a couple of miles in waders any day for fishing like that. They were hitting the ultralight spinning gear like nobody's business. It was an even mix of rainbows and brookies, all small except one 11-inch rainbow (holdover?).
Still, I haven't had a great day of fishing since the ice came off of Ririe. And it wasn't crowded at all. My only regret was that I left my flies home and couldn't try out the fly rod a friend built for me. Doh!
