Decided to try my hand at something new - curing Roe, which of course led me to - buying more stuff, so I could rig up bait sacks. Yep another mysterious "box" showing up on the doorstep!
The curing was pretty simple - much like a smokin' brine. Sugar, Salt - I added some cherry gelatin for more color, sweetness. (order included some commercial 'cure' - next time). After - I tossed the cured eggs in jars with Borax. But I tried a lil' trout caviar first (BB:Before Borax) - salty, sweet, pops in your mouth. Just need crackers, good cheese, and a nice bottle of wine/champagne!
Figured I could twist up mesh sacks, but the 'tool' was pretty cheap, and thought it'd do a cleaner job, plus I can use it for other bait-sack offerings.
Just a little scoop, synch it down, and the 'magic thread' - has elastic properties - so you wrap, wrap, wrap, then tighten, and repeat. Slick. The 'kit' includes some bright foam floats for rigging up. Need to practice up my "egg loop" knot and find a nice spawing river to float.
It'll be game on! These little sacks just spew scent!
