man what a difference the cool week made. we went 2 weeks ago and got 20 in the boat with a 3.5 and a 3.25. then the cool wet week came in. couldnt find a fish in the same area. water was 8 to 10 degrees coooler. moved out to about 6 to 8 ft of water and we ended up with 7. just get hot already and stay that way.

[indent]That shallow water really heats and cools quickly. Glad you adapted and found a few fish!

Lowell sounds a lot like Twin Lakes over here on the east side of the state (no smallies though unfortunately). I usually end up ditching my tube and wading it too. I generally like 7' rods, but I actually bought a shorter 6' rod this winter just for pitching plastics to pockets in the trees and brush there in the spring. It has to be some of the funnest fishing there is.
Same thing here, great fishing last week, but yesterday I worked my butt off for 12, and only about 5 were even a foot or better. I'm pretty happy with the new rod though. This week's weather isn't looking any better. I'm bummed because I just went from working M-F, to only working three long shifts during the week. Now it's nasty out everyday I have a chance to fish.
