Floating bait at DC?

Anyone having success floating bait from a boat at DC?
Invited a beginning fisherman for a short trip Fri morn but would feel better with a confirmation that fish are still hitting with these above average temps.

I don't know about floating bait, but I have seen suspended fish in the water column that I am betting are trout on the fish finder. They are showing up 13-15 ft below the surface. So I would suggest a slip bobber set to that range of depth and then soaking your preferred bait of choice. I dont think the other species would hit a floating bait variety.... my two cents

Have been finding perch along the edges of the weed beds that like to play.

That is fantastic to hear, let's hope that the next few years keep the water level up and we should grow some good perch.
