If I could actually CATCH a fish, my choice pound for pound would be a wiper as well.

For salt water I would have to give the abacore the nod (maybe for all fish pound for pound) they can kick your butt for a 20-25 lb fish, In freshwater , those pelican lake gills on a fly rod have to be up there for the small size, have'nt caught a wiper, but I was going to cast a vote for lake powell stripers ( when their healthy) and for trought I would give the blue ribon to tiger trout.
Just my 2 cents worth

The good 'ol CARP baby!!!!!!!!!! They may not fight worth a darn, but you try reeling in a 25 lber from the Gorge!!! If feels like a 35 foot Christmas tree you just dragged off the bottom. HAHAHAHA Just kidding anyhow, I am going to have to say the Wiper also, but not from Willard Bay, but from John Martin Res. in South Eastern Colorado.

I'm sticking with the Mako Shark. You have to catch one to understand where I'm coming from.[cool]

I'm divided between the smallie and the wiper. Both put up on heck of a tussle, and are a riot to catch!
