Fishing for kings on this clear, small river is a kick in the pants. If you haven't ventured there because of the crowds, this is definitely the year to try it.
I read on the IDF&G site that they are opening up the SF Salmon river for salmon fishing on June 25th.
That's not the good news though....
They've opened up the river all the way down to the East Fork!! That's 33 miles of pristine river fishing compared to stacking us up shoulder to shoulder in the good holes for a five mile stretch. I for one, am excited to explore some new holes downstream.
Remember the days where you had to drive up to the check station each night to log your fish? Glad they put an end to that a few years ago too.
I'll be calling the McCall fish hatchery soon to get an idea of the trap number's coming in. I'd say 100 to 200 fish a day is trip time. Anybody know what the quota is this year?
