Fished the Bear River out of my inflatable boat yesterday near Corine. We fished in the evening from about 6:30 till 9:30. Only caught a few 12" catfish. The mosquitoes turned on at 9:30 reel hard and we were out of there. Then we took the boat to Mantua this morning. It took a few minutes. It took about 15 minutes to find the right spot and then it was on like Donkey Kong. We caught a few nice perch, and Smallies. We had the bluegills going nuts. We left about 12:00 when we decided out sun burns were bad enough. Over all a good day.

What did the proc say about Smallmouth in Mantua Bassrods??? Just curious, because to my surprise also, when I was there last I passed the board that has a map of the lake and the species of fish in it and it said it had smallmouth in it along with Largemouth. Never heard of anyone catching a smallie out of there and you would think they would run ramped in there!!! Good topic to bring up though!!!

I may only fish that lake one or two times a year, and had not seen or heard of smallies being in there....

Beleive it or not I would like anyone who catches a smallmouth at mantua to kill it!! We dont need anything messing up the largemouth population. We only have a couple good Largemouth lakes left, lets not ruin any!
let the largemouth go!
that goes double for you Leaky!!![sly]

I was fishing from shore at Mantua Sunday AM and was watching a smallmouth defend it's territory under a rock from the other tiny fish that hang out near shore. Made for fun viewing while standing there.
