The kids and myself have been going stir crazy and needed to get away. We decided yesterday afternoon to pack up and spend the night at our cabin at Scofield. It is always a pleasant surprise to pull up and see the turnout by our access road plowed. It is even a better surprise to find that someone had even plowed the road into our cabin area. That sure saves time and energy not having to trek back and forth with gear from the vehicle.
I wanted to be on the ice nice and early to see if maybe the bite was happening before sunup. Got on the ice at around 6:00 am. From 6:30 to 7:00 had mutiple hits but nothing to show for it.
Stopped fishing at 11:00 am and caught a grand total of 3 fish. Two that were barely 10" long and one around 16". Had quite a few hits all morning, but no hook ups. It was weird. There would be just one bump and that would be it. Usually, you can coax a few more to stay with it, but not today. Tried multiple lures, jigs, etc. I found a glow in the dark Rat Finkee was getting the most attention, followed by a plain old worm and marshmellow.
