Fortunately, this will not sour my oldest (13) of two sons. In fact, we are still laughing about it - 'cept I'm sure he's gonna have a bruise where he landed! [sly]
It's my youngest (9) that has been (more) soured in that he got skunked, again... He a very active boy and just doesn't have the patience to fish thru the ice, and he's rarely paying attention when the strikes happen... I dunno if I'm going to get him out too often. It's not like I can promise him the 50 fish day like the buddy I went out with got the day before. Life has many lessons to teach us whether we like them or not.
If you guys have any advice on how to keep a kid interested when it's a tough sell - I'd love to hear it. [

I don't want to push him. But the ice is gonna be thick, and the sun's gonna be a shinin' before I ask him to go out again. [

The up side is that my wife goes out once a year with me - she hates the cold. But what was a surprise to me too 'bout this new hut (I learn fast, but I'm new to ice fishing) was how you could see the fish thru the hole this way! (In the short time we were in it! [sly]) She wants to go out again just to view the fish again from the hut! [

Always gotta look on the bright side of things. Like maybe I'll get there again to retrieve those buckets that blew away, but I'll return with ice skates!!
