There are some biggies in there. I spotted one near the marina that looked like a man hole cover with a head....massive.

I think that turtle mistakened your fins for another turtle if you know what I mean

@Troy

its a soft shelled turtle, I caught a huge red eared slider in sunset back in 2008. Was fishing for catfish using shrimp and ended up catching it instead. Took me a while to get the hook out b/c i forgot to bring pliers.

Last year I caught a snapping turtle at Floyd Lamb using meal worms for bluegill. It was small and I hooked it in the corner of the mouth. Fortunately I did bring pliers so I grabbed the shank of the hook and with a quick snap of the wrist it was gone.

I heard those soft shelled turtles make good soup.[sly] is it legal to take one if caught on your line? I believe there was a thread about eating turtles a while back. anyone try them yet? [fishon]

I was shore fishing in the wash a few years back, and over the course of the day, my friend and I must have landed 7 or 8 big turtles.

As I was unhooking one, an Asian dude ran up and asked for it. I had no problem dropping it in his cooler, and he was happy as a clam.

Hope I wasn't breaking any laws.... I'm sure they are a no-take species or something.
