New flies
#1
Im looking for some new flies to tie. Something a little different than the common flies. Mostly looking for some subsurface flies and streamers. If you have any patterns you like to tie or fish I want to try some new ties. And if you can include a list of materials and a picture that would be awesome.

http://www.fieldandstream.com/node/1001312826[/quote] i too have dropped my iPhone in the river but for some odd reason I chose to pay $40 and fix it instead of tear it apart and make "the most expensive fly" I have been messing around a lot with nymphs and some stone fly patterns... I am yet to get into dries though. I have just been looking through YouTube videos and checking out fly tying videos and finding ones am like and just tying along with the video. Maybe we oughta do a fly tying night. If only I was quick enough to get the tying station from fg!

This fly is responsible for many many fish this year and was on my line a lot

This one works in many colors I use a regular brass/black bead: http://www.flyfishsd.com/tungsten-mini-l...ing-video/

This is another great one a must have indeed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dtm-LlmgGuU

This one works well when they're feeding and you're sure what on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VJ6Eai6LUA

This is another amazing fly in the Uintas I caught 40 fish in one day with one fly Never leave home without it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VJ6Eai6LUA

And here's the ever popular sheep creek special: http://stevenojai.tripod.com/sheepcrk.htm

Good tying to ya!

"Subsurface", I wouldn't use a bugger and cones, that will take you to the bottom.
I like smaller bugs for this as I like to use light weight gear.
You will have to look them up, but the list is
RS2, WD40 and I put Frog's Fanny on them as it forms a bubble appearance like a hatching fly.
Look up Emergers too. This is one of my all time favorites. It can be fished dry, or give a little tug and it goes sub surface, pull more and it is a nymph.

BUT, you got to try SOFT HACKLES! even old wet flies.

Here are a few "off the beaten path" flies I've done that you might want to consider:

Fun one for Strawberry:

I do this for bass, but it works for trout too:

Fun one for damsels:

And a good all-around attractor nymph:
