Ellis or Salmon?
#1
Hi all. I am thinking of making a day trip to steelhead fish tomorrow. I am having a hard time deciding on where to go. I will have more time to fish if I go to Ellis, but if I go to Salmon I think my odds are probably better....What do you all think?
Also what is working this year? In the past I have used beads, squishy eggs, shrimp, helgies, yarn, pretty much you name it. My favorite has been a Anise scented squishy egg with yarn and a corkie.

My vote would be Salmon and below. Forget Salmon Country. Henrys is HOT!!!

Run a drift float threw some holes.

I have been doing really good up river from Salmon. If you are only doing a day trip I would fish around Salmon. There are a few being caught around Ellis, but not very many.

Fish wherever you have the most confidence and you will likely be rewarded. Fresh roe under cleardrift 35 gram floats has filled up my tag this season.......

That's a good looking fish there. Although i enjoy fishing the Clearwater, I miss my old haunts on the salmon river more and more every day. I need to swing a trip down there in a really bad way. Sadly it's not going to happen until the spring. Hopefully I can make it work in late Febuary or early March. When ever Deadwater blows out and the river cleans up.
