2 firsts from Willard.

Hit Willard this weekend thought I would get out and see if I could catch one of these wipers. Sat I got out and started trolling at around noon 2.5 to 2.75 mph was the ticket for me. Caught my first Wipers nothing over 16" but did catch 4 in an hour and half. All went home to get a little bigger. Sunday went back out and caught two that I felt were worthy of keeping. Sunday My wife and I both caught our first ever walleyes. Not a bad weekend. Fished in 13 to 14.5 ft of water and had majority of the wiper hits came on a chartreuse Berkley #9 Flicker minnow. All walleye came on a lemonade #7 flicker minnow. I've caught stripped bass and white bass but these wipers amazed me at how aggressive and how hard they fought.....I think I'm Hooked!

My daughter wants me to take her out for some wiper action. How was the water depth in the marina/launch area?

I didn't ask about the south marina but the north had 8 to 9 feet in the channel, a little shallower right off the ramp at 5 to 6 but not too bad as long as you lunch turn to open water and head out.
