It was time to run up the berry, 345 alarm set, woke up at 343 before the alarm and ready to fish!! Just missed the opening of the boat inspection station on the way up (whew) . we Launched out of strawberry bay marina just before 6am sunday - nice and cool out in the morning. first couple hours brought moderate success with a few slot cutts and one Koke around Hawes point - pulled in the gear and ran the boat up towards the northern end of the lake to troll "the kokanee highway" a self named trolling run i marked on my humminbird last year -deep water trolling with 2 down riggers and 2 lead core setups. shortly after we get our spread setup the winds really kicked up and so did the waves. whitecaps and rollers in the 2 foot range steadily. we were really getting beat up out there but my deep v is made for such conditions. this area produced 2 really nice sized Kokes (2.5 lb range) - on the downriggers w/ hoochies and about a dozen more cutts from 14-20 inches. tough to keep your speed steady with the waves pounding like it was but we did ok all things considered. glad we had 3 of us in the boat because you didnt want to take your hands off the steering wheel. we rode the waves until about 1 . the sea looked really from shore after we pulled the boat out. lookin forward to fresh kokanee for dinner tonight . no pics , phone stayed in a dry compartment in the boat.
